Where is the app? I don't see a window.
PeakMode lives in the menu bar — look for the cursor-with-rays icon at the top right of your screen. If your menu bar is crowded, you can also turn on “Show Dock icon” in Settings > General. The welcome guide with every hotkey is one click away from the menu.
Why does PeakMode ask for Screen Recording permission?
Only for Zoom and for saving or copying screenshots with your drawings. Everything happens on your Mac — the app has no network access. All other features work without the permission. If you granted it and Zoom still shows a message, toggle PeakMode off and on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, then relaunch the app.
My drawings stay on screen after I exit drawing mode. Is that a bug?
That's by design — committed drawings stay visible so you can keep talking over them. Clear them any time with control + option + X, the trash button on the toolbar, or the menu bar item.
Can I change the hotkeys?
Yes — every hotkey can be rebound in Settings > Shortcuts. Hold to Draw uses a held modifier key instead (control + option, or the fn key), which you pick in Settings > Annotation.
Nothing happens when I try to draw.
Check which tool is selected on the floating toolbar — the select tool (arrow icon) moves existing shapes rather than drawing new ones. Pick the freehand, highlighter, or shape tools to draw.
Where do whiteboard pages and screenshots go?
Whiteboard pages autosave inside the app and come back on relaunch. Exported PNGs and annotated screenshots are saved to the folder you choose on first save — change it any time in Settings > General.
Does it work over Zoom / Teams / Keynote?
Yes. PeakMode draws on transparent overlays above other apps, so it works over any app or screen share, including full-screen presentations.
